Cat Scratch Fever
This is a zoonotic (can be transmitted from pet to person) disease caused by Bartonella Hensilae. This bacteria is transmitted primarily between cats via fleas.
The cat carrying the bacteria, transmits it to people via cat scratches, cat bites, or cats licking open sores.
The disease in people is characterized by low grade fever, fatigue, "ain't doin right", tender enlarged lymph nodes, and there may be a rash at the point of contact. Unfortunatly cats generally are asymptomatic for the bacteria (they do not show any signs of illness).
